Cool Communities

Cool Communities is a community project that brings groups of five to eight neighbors, friends, coworkers, or congregants together to reduce carbon emissions from day to day activities, build community cohesion, and develop an energy-literate citizenry. Each group meets four times over an eight-week period with a knowledgeable group facilitator who has been through the program in the past. Participants are given assistance in calculating their carbon footprint and using "The Low Carbon Diet" workbook's checklist system to set reduction goals that are achievable and meaningful. During the meetings, participants share resources and address challenges they have experienced with the rest of the group. Groups develop a sense of accountability and members become motivated to help each other meet their goals.
